Position Overview

The Riverside Research Engineering and Support Solutions (ESS) directorate conducts Research and Development (R&D) of cyber-physical attacks against embedded systems. As a Sr. Microelectronics Systems Engineer you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of research engineers and scientists on a wide range of microelectronics research projects. You will work directly with a team of hardware security research subject matter experts (SME), the senior Principal Investigator, Technical Lead, and Program Manager to support various project-specific research scope and deliverables providing value to our customers.  You will also contribute to the growth of both our government customer and internal R&D capability to help advance Secure Edge / IoT technologies.  Remote work is not available for this position. Travel is not expected to exceed two to four times a year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise for the development of microelectronics assessments and microelectronics-focused projects.
  • Provide technical support for non-traditional approaches such as the implementation of cryptographic algorithms.
  • Research information on state-of-the-art (SOTA) trends in microelectronics security and provide recommendations for mitigation strategies.
  • Decompose security architectures and identify weaknesses for SOTA attack vectors.
  • Engage groups across the government microelectronics space to support technical roadmaps for future technology.
  • Support systems engineering in Microelectronics including analysis and modeling.
  • Willing to learn the associated tools for tasking, planning, researching and data routing as applied within the scope of the program.
  • Support development of Statements of Work and other project documentation.
  • Provide analysis of developer’s deliverables to include periodic reports, test reports, and other technical reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar field and at least 12 years of related experience or 8 with a Masters, or PhD with 6 or more years experience.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret and any other required US Government security access approvals.
  • At least 6 years Microelectronics/Embedded Systems security experience such as Defensive Cyber or Anti-Tamper.
  • Experience in FPGA or ASIC development including requirements definition, design, simulation, implementation, tape out, and testing.
  • Proficient in Python, C / C++, or MATLAB
  • Willing to travel to CONUS and/or OCONUS work locations 2-4 times per year.
  • Proficient in Hardware Description Languages (HDL) such as VHDL or Verilog and associated software tools.
  • Proficient in embedded software development, debug, and testing.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques.
  • Experience working in a classified research environment.
  • Prior experience implementing systems engineering tools and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and effectively and execute assignments with little supervision and actively participate in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to generate and evaluate technical documents and reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create technical briefings and materials and effectively present technical material to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Global Comp

$140,000 - $180,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
