Position Overview

Riverside Research is looking for a Senior Accounting Analyst, under the direction of Controller, will be a part of the general accounting team and ensure accuracy of transaction processing thru analysis and reporting.  The candidate will also assume the responsibility of overseeing project set up in Deltek Costpoint and ensure best practices are used to ensure revenue recognition is properly computed and costs are posted accurately.  The Senior Accounting Analyst will also support the Controller with various audits and compliance tasks including timesheet compliance.  Reporting to the Controller or Accounting Manager, in this position, you will primarily, help develop the general ledger team and provide support for various functions on the accounting team including but not limited to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.  This position has a great promotion potential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for completing journal entries including but not limited to prepaid, lease transaction, payroll, investments, depreciation, and processing cost pools
  • Act as backup for Accounts Payable voucher processing and reviewing Expense Reports in Deltek T&E
  • Act as project set up Subject Matter Expert (SME) and review all project set up including WBS for new contract or modifications set up in Deltek Costpoint. Coordinate with contracts department to ensure accurate set up and maintenance.
  • Enter EAC revenue in Costpoint.
  • Review contracts for proper revenue recognition.
  • Create revenue analysis reports monthly.
  • Work with finance team to analyze and confirm accruals.
  • Review indirect budgets and work with indirect departments to confirm if accruals are needed quarterly.
  • Monthly, review the Statement of Indirect Expenses to ensure correct account/org links and reconcile cost pools.
  • Assist Senior Accountant and provide higher level analysis related to the Unbilled reconciliation.
  • Act as a backup for timesheet compliance review.
  • Prepare schedules for the annual Incurred Cost Submission.
  • Assist with annual financial statement audit.
  • Create reporting to review various accounting metrics.
  • Support Accounting Manager and/or Controller with general ledger review and posting as needed.
  • Support Controller with reviewing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations resolving variance issues timely.
  • Monthly, review and test transactions for compliance with policies and procedures and provide recommendations to improve existing policy and procedures.
  • Assist with the preparation of schedules and supporting documentation needed to create the Annual Form 990 Tax return.
  • Prepare monthly financial statement package and quarterly consolidated financials including management analysis.
  • Prepare quarterly bank compliance report.
  • Assist Controller with researching and applying accounting standards or pronouncements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or above in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance
  • Minimum 5-7+ years of progressive Accounting Experience in Government Contracting Accounting
  • Advance knowledge of indirect rates in a government contracting environment, cost accounting, and revenue recognition
  • Subject matter expert of project set up and revenue recognition formulas in Deltek Costpoint
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with solid organization skills, under frequently changing priorities
  • Excellent Analytical and Problem-solving skills
  • Advanced user of Deltek 8.1 or 8.2; all applications in the accounting module, Projects, Purchasing and T&E modules, as well as Business Intelligence Reporting
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Internal Controls, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
  • Intermediate to advance experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and TEAMS. Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with multiple levels of management
  • Ability to quickly adapt to company policies and processes to effectively lead accounting team

Desired Qualifications:

  • CPA certification and/or MBA
  • Knowledge and experience with Not-For-Profit or Federal Grant Accounting environments (highly desired)
  • Not For Profit Accounting Experience

Global Comp

$98,000 to $125,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
