Position Overview

The Riverside Research Open Innovation Center's Secure and Resilient Systems (SRS) research group is seeking a Chief Scientist to help take our team to the next level by shaping and guiding the group's technical strategy and developing and implementing a commercialization approach that is mission-aligned for maximum impact. The Chief Scientist will work with SRS leadership to understand the technological offerings currently being developed and will design and implement a strategy for moving these technologies into the field with both Government and Industry partners. The Chief Scientist will also work to align internal investments with Government and Industry gaps and will work with our principal investigators and scientists to conduct research and development to fill these gaps. Additionally the Chief Scientist will be instrumental in mentoring and training the current and future generation of principal investigators in the group to help us continue to grow and scale.

 

The ideal candidate will have a deep technical background, a proven track record in strategy planning and execution, and the ability to effectively align cross-functional stakeholders and research staff towards a shared vision. This role is highly unique and requires a broad set of experience in multiple technology areas. The ideal candidate will have worked in multiple technology areas, bringing them together into one greater vision for a more secure future.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and share a forward-leaning technical vision with a slant towards commercialization
  • Develop and execute a broad strategy that includes both internal and external stakeholders in ensuring continued technical progress and growth for the team
  • Mentor and train the next generation of principal investigators for cutting edge research programs
  • Shape company independent research and development programs. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of 15 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 12 years with a master’s degree, a PhD with 8 years’ experience in a technical field. Prior experience as a principal investigator for research programs, and a proven track record of technology commercialization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring customer goals are met satisfactorily
  • Experience advising technical teams on development strategies, scoping work, and delivering high quality research
  • 15 years experience in Cybersecurity R&D to include experience with both the DoD and the intelligence community
  • Current TS/SCI clearance

Global Comp

$165,000 - $275,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
