Position Overview

Riverside Research is seeking a Software Engineer (Mid-level) with 3+ years experience to work in our Fairfax, VA office. We are searching for a candidate that has worked in an environment with good software culture, promoting best practices and processes. We seek a motivated and collaborative employee who would be comfortable working with a dispursed team comprised of multiple companies. We seek a candidate that is versed in data source integration and modeling, sepcifically building services, accessing APIs and accurately modeling their available data in Resource Description Framework (RDF) formatting. 

 

This position requires TS/SCI clearance, and must be willing to submit to a CI Polygraph should they not have an active Poly.

Responsibilities

  • Must participate in all parts of Agile rituals and practices with this dispursed team. 
  • Areas of focus may include some targeted areas of application architecture and software design, data source integration, testing frameworks, and understanding and integrating with devops tools.
  • Ability to work directly with databases and other data stores in order to collect information and potentially perform certain levels of statistical analysis
  • Some interaction with stakeholders, customers, and users, or their capabilities and requirements documents, to understand operational strengths and weaknesses and help define roadmap and future focus areas for the software system.
  • On occasion, provide direct customer support and technical assistance to users of the software.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • Knowledge of current best principles, practices, and procedures for design, development, implementation, deployment, and testing with respect to modern software applications and cloud development.
  • 5+ years of related programming experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work and professional experience that is documented and can be demonstrated.
  • Experience with modern software technologies, architectures, and frameworks that are used in enterprise client-server stacks or web application stacks. Examples include: Java and Python.
  • Exposure to database technologies related to modern software application stacks. Examples include Cassandra, MariaDB, Postgres, HBase, MySQL, MSSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of and exposure to designing, building, and implementing REST API endpoints according to well-defined best practices.
  • Knowledge and esposure to RDF 
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a dispursed team enviornment.
  • Demonstrated desire to grow and learn new technologies.
  • Experience with the tools that are used for managing software lifecycle processes such as Git, JIRA and Confluence.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience and knowledge in the areas of dependency injection, software services, and componentization of designs.
  • Strong experience in object-oriented design and implementation.
  • Strong experience in functional programming design and implementation.
  • Understanding of REST, web services, and web security.
  • Some full stack development and architecture experience, including, but not limited to, web services, client-server communication, database modeling, tiered server software design, and the frameworks related to these items.
  • Exposure or some experience with Docker, Kubernetes and containerization and DevOps/deployment concepts and tools in general.
  • Experience with different software development methodologies, including agile.
  • Exposure or knowledge of machine learning algorithms and tools such as naïve-bayes, decision trees, neural networks, and TensorFlow.
  • Familiarity with natural language processing libraries and tools.
  • Organizational skills to make progress on multiple elements and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of clients’ timelines and budgets.
  • Good data analysis skills.
  • Some experience or exposure in the areas user interface and user experience design and implementation.
  • Some experience or exposure in dealing directly with customers in a productive and iterative fashion.
  • Experience with NGA CORE
  • TS/SCI CI Poly clearance

Global Comp

$90,000 - $169,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
