Position Overview

Riverside Research's Applied Mathematics and Physics Solutions team is a research group focused on advancing the field of computational electromagnetics through innovative algorithms, high-performance computing, and real-world applications such as antenna design and radar cross section analysis. Our work spans theory, simulation, and experimentation, and we welcome curious minds eager to explore this dynamic domain. We’re seeking a motivated intern to join our team and contribute to ongoing research in computational electromagnetics. While a specific project will be defined based on your interests and our current priorities, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced researchers, gain hands-on experience with simulation tools, and explore cutting-edge topics in electromagnetics.  

 

This internship position is for the summer 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, testing, or optimizing tools that solve Maxwell’s equations
  • Contribute to code development, data analysis, and/or visualization
  • Participate in group meetings and present findings or progress

Qualifications

Required 

  • Students entering at least their junior year in Fall 2026 in an undergraduate program in Physics, Astronomy, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience with scripting (python)
  • 1-2 years of experience with C, C++ or Fortran
  • 1-2 years of familiarity with using the Linux command line
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Must be a US citizen

 

Desired

  • Familiarity with electromagnetics fundamentals (Maxwell’s equations, boundary conditions, etc.)
  • 1-2 years of experience with Windows code development
  • Experience with version control (git)
  • Experience with MPI and OpenMP

Global Comp

$20/hr - $35/hr This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
